Create and share a story

1. From the File Manager, open the model that you want to use to create your story. The story will be saved in the same location as the model.
2. If you haven’t already, create snapshots of what you want to share with others in a story.

   Note: Cross sections, measurement, and comments are included when you add snapshots to a story. Markup, pins, and the first comment associated with markup and pins are also included.

3. From the Snapshots panel , select the snapshots that you want to add to a story and click New Story.

   A new story is created, and the Vertex Story opens to display your snapshots in the Story Overview.

   

4. (Optional) Update the title of the story and add a description.
5. If you want to add additional snapshots, see Add snapshots to an existing story.

   Note: If you want collaborators to add their own snapshots, you must share the model that’s used in the story. More information about sharing is in the final step.

6. If you want to attach files that collaborators can download and review, such as a PDF of the model’s design specifications, see Attach files to a story.
7. To allow collaborators to create or edit their own cross sections or measurements or export the visible geometry that’s in a snapshot, in the lower corner of the snapshot, click More and select one or more of the following:
   • Enable Cross Sectioning
   • Enable Measurement
   • Enable Export

   The appropriate labels are added to the snapshot, and an export icon is also added to the snapshot, if enabled. Exported geometry includes BREP detail, but does not include model properties.

   In the following example, collaborators can export geometry from Fan housing. They cannot export geometry from Clearance review. However, they can create or edit their own cross sections or measurements in Clearance review.
   

8. To invite others to collaborate on the story, do one of the following:
   • Click Share and type the email of the person with whom you want to share the file and press Enter. Continue to add collaborators, and then click Done. Repeat this for the model file used in the story if you want collaborators to be able to add snapshots to the story.
     An email with a link to the story is sent to the collaborators.
   • Move the story to a Team Workspace. Repeat this for the model file used in the story if you want collaborators to be able to add snapshots to the story.
