As an Administrator, you can choose how to display the names shown in the assembly structure for all members of your organization. You can specify whether your organization uses the original assembly names for all models or set up customized names to display in assemblies. If you customize the names, you're not changing any original property data; you're simply changing how the name appears in the BOM.
Note: The setting you choose only takes effect after you save it and import new data. It doesn't affect previously imported data.
Desktop
- Sign in to Vertex as an administrator.
- In the upper-right corner, click your initials, and choose Settings.
- From the sidebar, click Settings.
- On the Files tab, under Assembly Display Names, choose how you want to display assembly names for everyone in your organization:
- Display the original assembly names — Use the original assembly names from model.
- Customize the assembly display names — Use property values to customize how the assembly names appear in the BOM.
With this option selected, you can also choose if you want to turn on Allow Partial Mapping. This indicates that one or more properties must be found to change an assembly node's name. When this is off, all property values in the string must be found.

Tip: To find properties in a model, import the model with the original assembly names, look at the part properties, and then enter the property values you want to use in the Customize the assembly display names box.
Once you save the setting, newly imported data will show the display names corresponding to the chosen setting.
