Transforming Data
The new Transform Manipulator will allow you to move a component, or an assembly, into a new location where you can visually align to existing data . You can find this new feature under the Part Manipulation panel. Just select the data you are interested in moving, toggle the Enable Transform Manipulator option and use the controls on the trihedron to position or rotate your data.
You can also use the available fields to enter values to manipulate the data. This can be used to fine tune the location of a part, or if you happen to know the exact distance data needs to be moved, you can use these fields to enter those values. There is also a Reset option to move selected data back to its original location. This new location can then be saved in the context of a snapshot that can then be used in a story.
Text Markup
We’ve added 3D Text Markup! These can be used to call attention to a certain aspect on a model with text, you can copy-paste text into the Markup box. Check out this video to see how Text Pins can be captured in your snapshots.
Contact Support
Tired of going to email to get a hold of support@vertex3d.com or trying to figure out what features your organization has requested? Now that process is simplified! The same place you would go to access the Vertex Help Center, now has a dropdown to Contact Support. When you click on Contact Support you will be automatically authenticated into your company's portal where you can see tickets you have logged as well as others in your organization. To file a ticket simply hit the File a Support Ticket button in the top right corner. This ticket will be logged and you can communicate with the Vertex Support team directly through the ticket.
Export
Vertex supports uploading native file types, and now we have introduced the ability to export either a complete model or a portion of a model as either a JT or STEP. This option is available from either the model viewer, or from a story. What is visible in the viewer at the time export is selected is the results that will be exported. Click here for a demonstration of Export from the Model Viewer and from a Story.
Orthographic Viewing
Orthographic View option is now available!. It's located just below the view cube. Just choose either Perspective or Orthographic to toggle between the viewing options.
Versioning Merged Models
We are excited to announce this addition to our popular merged model feature. Now as your geometry changes, your snapshots and stories can be updated along with those changes in Vertex. When you build stories and snapshots in Version 1 of a merged model and the geometry updates you simply create a new version of that merged model in Vertex. For a more complete writeup on the functionality available with versions reference our article File Versions Overview.
Walk Mode
In both the 3D Viewer and the Story Viewer, you can now add or remove the button, Enter walk mode , to your toolbar using the keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+Enter (Option+Shift+Return on a Mac). Use Walk mode when you want to constrain your movements to two planes so that it seems as though you’re walking through your model (Note: Your camera must be set to perspective view to enter walk mode). When you click Enter walk mode , the 3D manipulation toolbar options are replaced with the Walk mode toolbar options.
